"Dredge Material Sites" (Big River, March-April 2020, Page 3)
Winona, Minn. — The Army Corps of Engineers has released its draft Environmental Assessment for managing dredged material from Pool 6 — Trempealeau, Wis., to Winona — for the next 20 years.

The plan’s preference was to expand the size of two sites the Corps has been using: on the upstream end of Latsch island and the downstream end of Homer, Minn. The sites have sold or offered free dredge material (mostly sand). Most of it has been used for fill at nearby construction sites. The demand has kept pace with the supply, so there has been no need to find a permanent site for the material.

The Corps hosted a public meeting on the plan in Winona February 11, and is accepting public comments on the plan through April 10. (Deadline extended). The complete Environmental Assessment is availablle here:
